I love getting to work with an active population, with a lot of sports-specific rehab, while being able to connect and interact with kids of all different ages! It’s awesome to see how curious they are about how their body works. Once I start educating them on the injury and rehab process, some of my kids ask anatomy questions! I also like making patients laugh with my intentionally bad jokes, since it helps them relax and not be freaked out about me asking them to do stuff with their injured area."

WHAT ARE YOU FAMOUS FOR AT CTPO?
If I’m going to be famous for anything it’s that I rarely stop talking. I’m very upbeat and outgoing with patients and the office staff, and I can’t make it through the day without my lunchtime coffee!

FAVORITE THING TO DO OUTSIDE OF WORK
I absolutely love sports, so college football season is the best time of the year (always ready to be let down by my Aggies), and I am fairly obsessed with playing disc golf as often as I can. I love to play basketball, softball and other sports with friends! I enjoy hiking and National Park vacations and am currently in the process of visiting all 50 states with my best friend, which involves a lot of disc golf and hiking in beautiful parts of the country.

FAVORITE TIP FOR PARENTS
Keep in mind that while your kid wants to get back to sports as soon as possible, there is always a reason if we are recommending they wait a little bit longer. Our goal is to get them back as quickly as we can, while minimizing risk of re-injury, and to promote long-term health and ability to stay on the field, court, playground, etc. without ending up back in our office every couple of months!
Encourage them to put in the work early with the simpler exercises for the later payoff on return to sports exercises and more fun activities!
WHAT DO YOU VALUE MOST AT WORK
I value hearing what’s most important to my patients, as well as hearing what they like to talk about outside of just the injury I’m seeing them for. I also really value hard work and dedication to the rehab process, because you won’t get better without putting some work in, and I definitely can’t get you better all on my own. I guide the process, progress/regress and change course when needed, but the improvements all come from you!
FUNNIEST MOMENT
One time I was showing a kiddo how to do a bear crawl and crab walk and we turned it into a race and she beat me. I challenged her to race her older sister at home for exercise and she was very confident that she would win handily…the whole family just thought it was a great time.
MOST HEARTWARMING MOMENT
I had a new patient who had sprained her ankle and arrived in a boot and was really scared to move her ankle, put weight on it, use it, anything. After showing her how far it could move, reassuring her it was safe to move it and work it even if it starts out a little uncomfortable, and teaching her some tricks to get it moving easier and stronger, she was super excited to try an ankle brace instead of the boot. She wanted to wear the brace out of the evaluation (even though she didn’t have a shoe for that foot) and said it felt “so much better than when I walked in!” and walked out with a big smile.
