APRIL
April, who is originally from Alabama, is both a Board-certified Athletic Trainer and Board-certified Physician Assistant and has over 12 years of specialized experience as a Pediatric Orthopaedic Physician Assistant at CTPO. Some of her experience includes a medical mission to Guatemala with Dell Children’s Medical Center and treating elite athletes from renowned institutions such as the Cleveland Browns at The Cleveland Clinic, The University of Alabama, The University of Texas, and Austin FC.
She serves as a preceptor for Physician Assistant students and actively assists in training orthopedic residents at The University of Texas Medical School alongside Dr. Ellington. When she is not treating patients, she and her husband Gabe, who is also an Athletic Trainer, can be found cheering on UT football games and Austin FC matches with their two children, Sebastian and Samuel, and playing with their rescued Husky, Cali. April offers independent clinics for Dr. Ellington.
WHY DO YOU LOVE WORKING AT CTPO?
Working at CTPO is truly special because our dedicated doctors prioritize both patient care and nurturing a positive workplace culture. Collaborating with Dr. Ellington in Sports Medicine fills me with pride, especially witnessing the infectious smiles of athletes upon returning to their sport post-surgery. Our collective efforts bring immense joy and fulfillment, making every day meaningful and rewarding.
Each day, I wake up grateful for the opportunity to contribute even in the small moments, whether it's crafting glove balloons for my patients, watching cartoons while applying casts, or distributing lollipops.
